Walking on Fire for Project Possibility

Fire & Ice - walk on fire, swim in ice

Next Saturday, 7th March, I’m doing something slightly mad. I’m going to walk barefoot across a bed of red-hot wood embers at 650°C, as part of the Fire & Ice fundraising event at Ware Lido.

I’m doing it for Project Possibility, the charity I co-founded to help young people believe in themselves and each other. As a trustee, I’ve watched our small early steps grow into something much bigger. We’ve sent a school’s message to the edge of space, driven a toy car 17.7 miles around Milton Keynes, and we’re now planning a whole programme of inspiring events for schools across the UK.

The firewalk is our first major kickoff fundraiser, and I’m putting my own feet on the line to lead the way.

Why £500 Matters

I’ve set a target of £500 because that’s roughly what it costs to deliver a full, immersive day event for a school. Hitting this target means we can go to a school and say: yes, we can make this happen. Whether that’s students making their own film with professional kit, building a community library, or planting a forest. £500 turns a plan into a project.

One Week Left

As I write this, there’s exactly one week to go. The JustGiving page is currently at £195. Getting there, but not quite there yet.

If you’ve ever thought “I’d love to help but I don’t know where to start”, this is the easiest possible version of that. A few pounds from you, a barefoot walk across burning coals from me. Seems like a fair trade.

Donate on JustGiving

Every donation is Gift Aid eligible if you’re a UK taxpayer, which adds 25% on top at no cost to you.

The Event

Fire & Ice is at Ware Lido on Saturday 7th March. There are two challenges: the firewalk and an ice-cold swim. I’m signed up for the fire. The event is run by experienced facilitators and apparently it’s equal parts mental challenge and physical achievement. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Ware is a direct train from London Liverpool Street if anyone fancies coming along to watch me try not to scream.
